Note: Our level rating system is different than Hanayama's.  Hanayama's level 1 is equivalent to our level 5.... level 6 is equivalent to our level 10.

We have created a puzzle that takes on a spherical shape of an astronomical model compound of a planet and its surrounding ring. The planet positioned tightly inside the ring looks as if it cannot be taken out, and all you can do with it is rotate it on its axis. Or is this really the case?
The theme of the puzzle is "heaven" and was created by Oskar of the Netherlands.

Great design by Mr. Van Deventer and quality is superb, as expected by Hanayama! I had a great time trying to solve it!

Nice puzzle, the black finish started chipping almost immediately (which actually kind of helps), and a challenge to get through. I've done this puzzle twice now and I don't know how I feel about it, because it was not much easier to get through the second time despite knowing the moves. Got stuck on my third attempt through and decided it's better as an ornament now. If you enjoy puzzles that require absolute precision every time this one is good, personally I'm going back to fiddling with Cylinder.

The one I cannot yet solve. So it must count as a 10 more than a 9. I have almost all the Hanayama 9s and 10s.

It seems the manufacturer has tightened up the tolerances on this one. I own two of these bought some years ago. A friend showed me his and I volunteered to solve it, as he did not know I had my solution well practiced. My solution did not work on his, and the reason was obvious once I took out a micrometer from the tool bin at work. The given solution from the manufacturer is the ONLY one that would work on my friends example, mine was useless. So this puzzle is even more difficult than ever. One of my favorites.

Level 6 not 5, impossibly hard, tight tolerances, gets stuck, not fun most of the time. If you like torture (I do sometimes), this is up your alley. The coating on this is stronger than on some others (square, donuts) oddly enough, which comes in handy I guess.

This is an awesome puzzle as well as it is evil the puzzle is solved just bu observing it there is a weak place where the rings are removed I solved it after two months of working on it but I removed the pieces in a way then I brought the solution this showed a very different way of solving as said below thus it has 2solutions I suggest it for all people who like challenges but they must be perfect in easier levels before trying this one because it is extremely hard and evil

An absolutely fantastic puzzle. The bad news is that it is devilishly hard. however its design is beautiful, simplistic, it feels good in the hands, and should you solve it, you end up a champ. Still haven't solved it yet, even though I know how it's done. Definitely a fantastic addition to any collection

This one is the only Hanayama in my collection that i would describe as "evil". It's extremely difficult and requires you to pay very close attention. I can't say more without giving a hint to the solution. I've solved it on my own, but upon checking the solution that can be found on the internet i found out that they way how i did it is very different. So yes, there are TWO solutions!

Idea - 6 Design - 6 Difficulty - 6 Enjoyable/fun - 3 Because of the last, I am rating it lower than 5 stars. I have it for several days, yesterday I managed to disassemble it, but I was not cautious on the last two "steps" of the disassembling and now I cannot put it back together! I did something using force and reached a dead end, where the pieces can neither move back (maybe the force was easier in one way, and can hardly be applied in the reverse), nor move up to the full assemble. With time, if I happen to exit the dead end and find the correct path, I might like the puzzle more.

The best puzzle I ever bought ... Still working on it, I have a lot of fun when I find new movements in it - even if they still don't form a sequence ! This equa puzzle is also original for its shape . OK ... I go back to it now !!!

Well... what can I say? This puzzle is well-made and good-looking, and it sits well on my table, which I like. But it's definitely too difficult to be a level five. It should be a level 6, or even higher. This one is extremely scary for even a master. First, it needs to be very precise, one step wrong and you're stuck. I'm not going to give away the solution, anyway the website won't let me. But just let me say that in order to solve this puzzle, there seems to be a lot of places and directions to move the two rings in order to solve this puzzle, but there is actually only one, and you can barely discover the difference. Anyone who had solved this will realize how scary it is. Second, it gives no clue about how to solve it. Although what you see is what you get, you still won't be able to know what to do until like decades later. Some movements required even seem to be impossible to do at first. And you will not be able to know if using some force will lead you to the right way, or the wrong direction. Even with solutions you won't be able to smoothly solve this. Scary for even master puzzlers. WARNING: I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS FOR PEOPLE WHO HADN'T AT LEAST SOLVED ONE LEVEL SIX HANAYAMA PUZZLE!

Not as unfair as some reviews suggest. Tough, yes, but isn't this why we purchase these? Took me well over two weeks, and I finally cracked it. You'll enjoy it, notwithstanding, it takes a lot of thinking to see why the obvious possibility will not work.

This is a pretty puzzle to look at but there are no clues on how to begin. There is only one starting position and there is no way to figure that out by looking or for that matter by even reading the solution. Even with the solution in hand, the puzzle is extremely difficult. I would like to hear from any one who solved it without the instructions, especially how they found the starting point

I got this one for my birthday about a month ago. Back then, my friends and I tried it, and failed. Then I went to a conferece on phsysics (actually two of them) and again nobody succeeded. In total 40 people had it in their hands :) So, you can see that it is quite difficult. Besides, it is well made, looks appealing and feels good in hand. Perfect for long holidays.

This puzzle is very tricky. Spent many days with it. I was able to find one and only one position that solves it. Fantastic effort was put into it to make it as precise as it is.

I have been picking this up from time to time for the last 6 months or so. Still haven't solved it. Reminds me of Oskar's Egg, but with some bumps that restrict movement and have foiled me so far. Substantial, heavy puzzle with a very pretty finish that shows well.

This puzzle would be better if it were larger. I cheated on this one, and I couldn't solve it with two youtube videos, and the written instructions in front of me. It took me several hours to figure it out even after obtaining these things. The thing I hate about this puzzle is that you try the same thing 100 times and it doesn't work. The 101st time it will work because you are a hair off. The solution tells you to look for something. However, what you have to look for is impossible to find. I solved without finding what you're supposed to look for.

This should definitely be a level 6 Hanayama. It took me about two weeks of working on it sporadically. Maybe 4-5 hours total. Pretty fun but frustrating at times. The 'trick' could have been a bit more obvious and still made for a fun and interesting puzzle.

My goodness this is a tricky one. Agree with the excellent cast quality. I've managed to slide the two middle pieces apart, but still haven't managed to separate them or get them out of the frame. (Continuously trying since Christmas Day)!

A gorgeous metal puzzle, very well cast, I have not solved it yet, but it spins around inside very nicely and the pieces are very hard and well made. Though I have seen some of the silver metal flaking off to expose a copper color underneath
